Early Years Night Support Worker

We are recruiting for a new Early Years Residential based in Belfast opening in 2023. We require 3 part time permanent Support Workers to support the team of Child and Family Support staff already in place. The Home will support 3 children aged 6 - 12 years. These will be Waking Night Shifts and there are 20 and 30 hour contracts available.  

 

Children and young people in care have had lots of different experiences. Many have been rejected or experienced something traumatic. Others have moved homes many times. We offer homes for children and young people who have experienced neglect, abuse and trauma. We support them in small, family style homes. We know this setting best meets the needs of each child.

 

THE ROLE:

A Night Assistant is responsible for supporting young people by providing physical and emotional care during a waking night shift. This involves working as part of a team to maintain a stable, happy and caring environment that puts the health, safety and welfare of young people first. Basic but vital parts of this include regular and punctual attendance at work, the need to act professionally and to be a good role model for young people and other staff.

Duties and responsibilities:

  1. To remain vigilant and do everything possible to protect young people and others from abuse of a physical, emotional, sexual, neglectful, financial or institutional nature. This includes an absolute requirement to report any incident of this nature you witness, hear about or suspect.

CRITERIA:

  • Minimum level 3 Qualification in any of the following areas: Social Work, Youth and Community Work, Occupational Therapy, Teaching, Nursing, Childcare and Health & Social Care.
  • 1 year experience in working with children and young people who have experienced significant traumas. Insight and experience in how to offer therapeutic supports and interventions.
  • Hold a current driving license valid for use in the UK and have access to a car on appointment. (where disability prohibits driving, this criteria will be waived if the applicant is able to organise suitable alternative arrangements
