These are long-term full-time posts based in both acute/hospital settings and community settings.

Band 3 SLT Assistant for Acute Settings within the Belfast Trust 

Job Summary 

The Speech and Language Therapy Assistant is employed to assist the Speech and Language Therapists in the management of children and adults with communication and swallowing difficulties. The Speech and Language Therapist is responsible at all times for the assessment, diagnosis and setting of treatment programmes.

Qualifications and Experience 

• 4 GCSE's or equivalent, at Grades A-C including English Language or equivalent Or relevant *NVQ level 2 AND One year paid experience working with children or adults in a therapeutic/care giving setting

OR  Two years paid experience working with children or adults in a therapeutic/care giving setting

 

Band 4 SLT Assistants for Community Settings within the Belfast Trust 

Job Summary

• The post-holder will work as part of the Adult Speech & Language Therapy Service to provide a service for clients with eating, drinking and swallowing difficulties (Dysphagia).
• The post-holder will support and implement training, programmes and advice devised by the adult SLT service for groups and individuals to manage dysphagia.
• The post-holder may work in a range of settings across the Trust e.g. Nursing Homes and Day Care Facilities depending on the needs and scope of the service
• The nature of this post is one of development and the duties and responsibilities outlined may change from time to time to reflect the changing needs of the service

Qualifications and Experience

• NVQ Level 3  or equivalent in relevant subject/area plus 2 years’ experience with clients in a * formal setting including those with a disability

Or

• HNC/HND or equivalent in relevant subject/area plus 1 years’ experience with clients in a *formal setting including those with a disability

Or

• 4 years relevant experience with clients in a *formal setting including those with a disability

*Formal settings to include Hospital, Day Centre; Nursing Home, Residential Home/School or Work with Voluntary sector e.g. Alzheimer’s  society, Stroke association, MENCA.
