Team Leader

We are supporting a Mental Health & Learning Disability charity to recruit for Team Leaders in Newtownards.  North Down and Ards Children’s Service is a four bedded unit which provides medium- to long-term accommodation for children with severe learning disabilities. The service operates as a partnership between Praxis Care and the South Eastern Health and Social Care Trust.  

The service provides appropriate quality care and support to children/young people under 18 years of age who are diagnosed with Severe Learning Disability and associated behaviour that challenge, who are assessed as requiring this input to enable them to live as independently as possible in his/ her community.

Job Purpose/Summary: The Team Leader is part of the support team whose function is to meet the practical, physical and emotional needs of Service Users within the service. Through a key worker system, they will also be responsible for the designing of individual programmes of support and co-ordinating the delivery of the package by a group of Support Workers and themselves.

Criteria:

Qualified Rate of Pay 1

. Understanding of the Mental Health and/or Learning Disability field plus one of the following qualifications;

• Professional qualification in Social Work;

• Professional Qualification in Nursing;

• Allied Health Profession qualification.

All applicants must be registered, or eligible to register at the time of appointment, on the appropriate part of their professional register (NISCC, NMC, HCPC).

OR

2. Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care (Adults’ Management / Adult’s Residential Management) (Wales and Northern Ireland) and 2 years paid employment experience in a health and social care setting.

OR

3. QCF Level 3 in Health and Social Care and 2 years’ paid employment experience in a health and social care setting.
